Description
Day 1
-Departure from the agreed place for Alagna
– Stop en route at Varallo, a town located in Valsesia on the banks of the River Sesia.
– On arrival, meeting with the guide and ascent by cable car to Sacro Monte, the oldest of the Italian Sacred Mountains and the one of greatest artistic interest. It is located within the “Special Nature Reserve of the Sacred Mount of Varallo” and, together with the other Sacred Mounts of Piedmont and Lombardy, was declared a World Heritage Sitè in 2003.
– Guided tour of the sanctuary to understand the beauty, spiritualitỳ and art of this place, made up of around 45 chapels that, through frescoes and groups of statues, narrate scenes from the life of Jesus and Mary.
– Lunch in a typical restaurant
– At the end, continuation by coach to Alagna.
– Arrival at the hotel, check-in and accommodation in assigned rooms.
– Time at disposal for a walk around the central village where one can admire the San Giovanni Battista parish church and the typical Walser-style houses, and it will be possible to visit the Walser Museum in the hamlet of Pedemonte: a perfectly preserved hut showing how the Walser population lived in past centuries.
– Traditional dinner and overnight stay in the hotel.
Day 2
– Breakfast at the hotel and check-out.
– You will reach the ski lifts on foot to spend a day trekking at altitude completely surrounded by the beauty of nature and breathtaking landscapes.
– Picnic basket to savour typical Valsesia products.
– Descent by cable car.
– Return to the place of departure.
